Master the fret board with modes and other scales

The easiest way to learn scales is to memorize their patterns on the fretboard. Then within each pattern you should memorize the locations of the "root" notes. After you know the pattern or "shape" of the scale along with the root note locations then you can very easily transpose that scale to any key you desire.
